I am a bubbly 27 year old who has been looking after children since the age of 13. I started off babysitting in the small country town I grew up in (Kojonup, WA) and went on to work in a childcare centre in Perth for 3 years after finishing high school. For the past 7 years I have been a university student, babysitter and nanny.
When I tell people I have been studying for 7 years they tend to think I am a medical student (my parents would love that one). But, 7 years has come from a variety of interests and my thirst for knowledge. I have an Education Assistant diploma, a double degree in Sociology and Community Development. I completed my Honours in Sociology before going back to finish my Bachelor of Education(primary, secondary, special needs) last year.
My employment history as a nanny is quite scattered, as I have always worked for at least 2 families at one time. In total I have cared for the children in 7 different families, with ages ranging from 2 weeks old - 16 years. As a result, I am experienced, content and very comfortable with all ages. In regards to overnight stays, I have cared for children over a variety time periods. Some just a night or weekend, but the longest I have done is a 7 week stint (that was for 3 kids). I have also travelled with families as an extra set of hands. For these kinds of things I charge per day, not per hour.
About me? I love; my family and friends, the beach, art that I can read, look at, listen to and watch, laughing, red wine – though not on the job :), a pretty view, filling my brain with useful and not so useful snippets of information. I am kind, patient, honest,organised, responsible yet fun. I have never seen the children I care for as a job. I love each of them madly and care for them as if they were my own.
