Dear Parents,
My name is Samantha Smith and I am interested in becoming a full-time caregiver for a family on the Northern Beaches.
I first became interested in the childcare industry in 2007, during which time I was completing my degree in visual arts. I began employment with a company named Select Education, doing casual work for various childcare centres around the Northern Beaches. Working for Select Education I gained experience with ages 0-6 and became privy to many different teaching techniques. What started as "a way to make some extra cash whilst studying" became a genuine interested and very rewarding experience.
Once I completed my Degree, I began working full-time for a centre as an assistant in the toddlers room (2-3), and continued to make my artworks on the side.
It has been a year since commencing employment for this company and I have learnt so much in this time. I found being based at one centre particularly fulfilling as it allowed me to become accustomed to the daily structure, as well as helped me develop personal relationships with the children and parents therefor creating a more nurturing and comforting environment.
My special interest is in the arts and crafts fields, I love sharing some on the creative things I've learnt with the children, as well as getting to know their individual personalities, likes and dislikes.
As well as working in the childcare industry, I have also had previous experience in aged care for a company named Wesley Noakes. This role required me to make visits to elderly who were in need of assistance completing daily tasks such as shopping, cleaning and cooking.
