I am currently working part time, caring for the one year old daughters of two families but my time with these lovely girls will end in December as they will both be attending child care next year. I am therefore looking for similar work in 2015.
Prior to my current role I was nanny for a one year old boy and a two year old girl on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the middle of this year. In 2013 I worked as the assistant to a qualified room leader in the babies room of child care centre, supporting the education program and providing care for up to eight little people a day.
I have also previously worked as a teacher's assistant in a school for children with special learning needs, and as assistant to the children's librarian in a public library service.
For two years, I studied toward a post graduate diploma in primary school teaching in New Zealand but moved to Australia before completing the qualification.
I am hoping to complete a qualification in children's services in 2014.
I have a current National Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, and recently obtained statement of attainment for the St Johns first aid course:
HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
This course covered the following units:
* HLTAID001 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
* HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
* HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
* HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
* 22024VIC Course in Emergency Management of Asthma in the Workplace
* 22099VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
I have always enjoyed the company of children and have a lifelong interest in education. I understand the value of play and enjoy providing engaging, entertaining opportunities for young people to extend their experience and understanding of the world.
I offer a kindly, caring and affectionate approach and believe in supporting children in their development of self-managed social skills through the establishment of reasonable, clearly articulated and consistently maintained behavioural expectations. Positive reinforcement and redirection are always my preferred strategies in managing and guiding children's behaviour. Kindness, reliability, self-respect and respect for others are the values I most value and those I endeavour to model for children in my care.
